When you Wiki "neighborhood joint with a good vibe and great food," there is a picture of the Spot Bar. If you've ever lived in a great 'hood like Lincoln Park or Bucktown, you had that place that was a couple of blocks from your front door. You didn't schlep downtown or go out of your way to go anyplace else, because why the heck would you?
Anyway, the Spot Bar is that place. Women walk to the Spot Bar thinking "Let's just have a couple of Coors Lights," and end up falling under the spell of barkeep Dave. Some of them call their boyfriends to break up with them right then and there. He's like Brad Pitt from A River Runs Through It. He's just that hot. OK, that sounded pretty gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Let's move on...
There is quite possibly no better place to hit on your way home from a Nuggets or Avalanche game. You ate hours ago, got your beer on during the game, and now need a plate of hot wings to make it so you can get up tomorrow.
Patio: Get there by 4:30 on a Thursday or Friday in the warmer months, and you'll want to be out on the porch. Watch the people stroll by on their way to being put-off by the Maitre'D at the Italian place down the block, then watch them stroll back an hour later to opt for burgers and beers at The Spot. Funny how some things just ebb and flow that way. I think they call that "symbiotic" or is it more like "host-parasite?"
Spot Bar is also a great place to play Liar's Dice. Ask for some cups and Dave will give you the lowdown (Dice Rules).
